AFC North team not in love with drafting Jalen Milroe despite previous reports

Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe has been a tricky prospect to place in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft.

Milroe has shown flashes of the high ceiling he possesses as a quarterback which was put on display this past year during performances against Georgia and LSU. But the Texas native has also had his fair share of duds which come around far too consistently for many draft analysts to draw a consensus on where to place him.

Previous mock drafts and reports had shown that one team that was in “love” with Milroe was the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Veteran quarterback Russell Wilson led Pittsburgh to the post season in 2024 only to fall to its division rival, the Baltimore Ravens, 28-14. Wilson provided stability after the franchise missed on the selection of quarterback Kenny Pickett who was moved to the Philadelphia Eagles, but the team may once again be looking to move on from the 36-year-old who doesn’t have many seasons left.

Thus led to the reports of Pittsburgh’s infatuation with Milroe, who in theory would provide a spark of play making ability the offense has dearly missed.

But some conflicting reports surfaced on Saturday from The Athletic, sharing that Pittsburgh may actually not have it’s sites on the former Crimson Tide quarterback at all.

Of course some gamesmanship could be involved in order for teams not to tip its pitches ahead of the important offseason stretch, but Milroe’s tape can certainly leave some franchises polarized.

Pittsburgh also traded for former Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields who could already be considered to be a reclamation project for the franchise.

With the NFL Combine on the way, Milroe will still have a chance to prove himself to the rest of the league.
