Alabama’s defensive line is set to return multiple defensive linemen next season that are from the state of Alabama. The group includes redshirt senior Tim Keenan III, senior LT Overton, junior James Smith, redshirt freshman Jeremiah Beaman, and redshirt freshman Isaia Faga. Also, Alabama brought in Alabama native and Florida transfer Kelby Collins.

The Alabama coaching staff has placed an emphasis on recruiting the state of Alabama  in the ‘26 class. In particular, the coaching staff has prioritized defensive linemen. Alabama has offered Tyson Bacon, Vodney Cleveland, and Emanuel Ruffin. Each of them have received visits from the coaching staff in the past.

Needless to say, the impact that the current in-state defensive linemen on Alabama’s roster in 2025 could play a key role in the recruitment of others. There is no question that defensive line coach Freddie Roach can recruit. The question is whether or not he can develop an elite defensive linemen next season.

Keenan III, Collins, Overton, and Smith will each compete for starting spots during the spring. In addition, Beaman will be a key piece of the defensive line as well. The impact that each of them have next season could go a long way for the Crimson Tide in 2025 and beyond. There are high expectations for that group of defensive linemen as well as the rest of the unit. Can Alabama depend on its in-state talent to find success early and often next season?
