5 Alabama players that are not being talked about enough heading into 2025

Spring practice has been underway for several weeks in Tuscaloosa. Players and coaches are both getting accustom to the rigor that spring ball brings day-in and day-out.

A lot of buzz has begun to circulate in Tuscaloosa in regards to several players that have stood out early on. Today, Touchdown Alabama lists five players that have not been talked about or discussed enough over the course of the spring.

1. IOL Roq Montgomery

A lot of names have been brought up for the left guard position. One name that is seldomly mentioned is Roq Montgomery.

The Alabama native has played in 14 games in his first two seasons with the Crimson Tide. With Alabama losing starting left guard Tyler Booker to the draft, the coaching staff could turn to a player that is familiar with the standard and aware of what it takes to play in the SEC at a high level. Montgomery has waited his turn and is a player that fans need to know leading up to A-Day.

2. DB DaShawn Jones

Last season, Alabama used two players interchangeably at the HUSKY position. Those two players were Malachi Moore and Devonta Smith. Both of which are no longer with the program.

Alabama will need someone to step up and replace them. A strong candidate to do is redshirt senior DaShawn Jones. He was returning from injury the last time that defensive coordinator Kane Wommack spoke to the media. Jones has one start at HUSKY and it came in the final game of the season. That should indicate that the coaching staff has high hopes for Jones and what he brings to the secondary.

3. WR Cole Adams

After suffering a season-ending injury last season, there has been minimal talk of where redshirt sophomore Cole Adams fits in a wide receiver.

The Oklahoma native is a route-running technician and a versatile weapon at spot receiver. It is unclear what his role will be in 2025, but he will be an impact player whether it be at wide receiver or on special teams.

4. DB Red Morgan

Given all of the roster turnover, it seemed like rising sophomore Red Morgan would receive a lot of attention heading into 2025. That has not been the case thus far. Morgan has received reps at HUSKY, cornerback, and safety this spring.

Versatility is crucial in Kane Wommack’s SWARM defense. Morgan brings versatility and a year of experience under his belt. Morgan will be an impact player in Alabama’s defense in 2025. You can mark that down.

5. LB Nikhai Hill-Green

With Alabama returning both of its starting inside linebackers, there has been minimal chatter surrounding Colorado transfer Nikhai Hill-Green.

The Maryland native has a wealth of experience at the position having played for Michigan, Charlotte, and most recently at Colorado. He has flown under the radar but is someone that is more than capable of carving out a role on Alabama’s defense in 2025.
