Mike Norvell has high expectations for Florida State’s expected starting quarterback, Tommy Castellanos.
Castellanos transferred from Boston College to Florida State at the end of the 2024 football season. He threw for 1,366 yards and 18 touchdowns last season for the Eagles.
Norvell was asked about his expectations for the quarterback on Thursday.
“Our expectations for him to be one of the best quarterbacks in the country,” Norvell said, according to News4Jax in Jacksonville, Florida. “He’s got great skill with his arm, with his legs. But the thing I’ve been so impressed with is just his leadership.”
Florida State opens the season against Alabama at home.
The Crimson Tide’s defensive coordinator Kane Wommack previously talked about the challenge the quarterback and Florida State’s offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn will present to the Tide.
“You look at our first game of the season against Florida State,” Wommack told reporters at the Mobile Sports Hall of Fame Induction Banquet. “Athletic quarterback. I played for Gus Malzahn. I know how Gus does things from a from a quarterback-run game. Mike Norvell does the same thing. So those are the things that you kind of have to be aware of that everybody has an element to that in their game.”
