On Tuesday, ESPN’s College Football Power Index (FPI) projected the chances each team has to win their conference.

Alabama has the third-highest percentage to win the SEC. The FPI gives them a 17.2 percent chance to win the conference title.

The two teams in front of Alabama are Texas and Georgia.

The Longhorns come in at number one with a 34.1 percent chance to win the SEC Championship. The Bulldogs are right behind them with a 26.9 percent chance, so this ultimately means that Texas and Georgia were the two schools that won the SEC Championship the most in the 20,000 season simulations done by the FPI.

The Crimson Tide’s rivals; LSU, Auburn and Tennessee are behind Alabama in the rating system. LSU has a 3.5 percent chance, Auburn sits at 1.8 percent and Tennessee is at 4.2 percent.

However, this does not necessarily mean the FPI is projecting a Georgia and Texas rematch. The results do not include how many times a team appeared in the SEC Championship game, just how many times a team won the conference title.
