Ryan Williams got his career off to a blazing start in 2024 with a series of head-turning performances.

The then-17-year-old racked up 544 yards and six touchdowns in the first five games of his collegiate career. One of his best performances during the stretch was against Georgia in Bryant-Denny Stadium. He finished the game with 177 yards and a touchdown on six receptions and scored the touchdown that helped seal the Alabama victory.

The second half of Williams’ freshman season was not as productive as the beginning of his collegiate career. He was only able to put up 321 more yards and two touchdowns during the remaining eight games. This was a result of many factors. Teams began to gameplan against the former five-star, Jalen Milroe suffered his fair share of ups and downs and he was on the wrong side of some costly penalties.

With age often comes growth, and Williams has experienced some during the offseason and is taking a different approach on and off the field with his teammates.

“I would just say and a lot of the guys we’ve been building this together, but building excellent habits, building championship habits and just continue to be a champion day in and day out and just focusing on today,” Williams said. “How can I maximize today so that tomorrow when I maximize tomorrow, I’m just stacking days. I’m going 1-0. I would just say definitely focused on that.”

Williams evaluated his freshman season during the spring and said it left something to be desired.

“People going to say it was solid, good,” Williams said while discussing his freshman season. “I think I could have done a lot better, left some plays out there, but that’s part of the journey. So it was all right.”

The Alabama wide receiver is expected to be one of college football’s best wide receivers in 2025.
