Kalen DeBoer walked away from Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium impressed with the versatility and depth of Alabama football’s wide receivers after the Crimson Tide completed their first scrimmage of fall camp on Saturday.

“It’s just new guys popping up,” DeBoer told reporters. “Guys that you would expect to make plays. One day, you’ve got Germ (Germie Bernard) making a lot of plays. Today, (Isaiah) Horton getting his opportunity.

Horton is entering his first season with the Tide after transferring from the University of Miami, where he reeled in 56 catches for 616 yards and five touchdowns last season. Bernard returns to Alabama for a second season after transferring from Washington. He pulled in 50 receptions for 794 yards and two touchdowns in 2024.

DeBoer highlighted two players in particular from the scrimmage during his press conference.

“Rico (Scott), just doing the little things that matter,” DeBoer said. “Cole Adams made a nice play today, one that was really good to see. The depth, guys understanding, ‘Man, I gotta go out on a day where we got a scrimmage, I gotta go out and prove it.’ Especially those ones that haven’t got as many opportunities.”

Depth in a talented wide receiver could pay huge dividends for the Tide in the future.
