Former Alabama player not sold on 4-2-5 defense after win over ULM

Marquis Maze is not sold on the Crimson Tide’s 4-2-5 Swarm Defense after Alabama football defeated UL-Monroe 73-0 to improve to 1-1.

Alabama’s defense dominated the Warhawks’ offense throughout Saturday’s game. They held ULM to 148 yards of total offense and forced three turnovers in the shutout win.

However, Maze remains unimpressed with the Tide’s defensive scheme.

“My observation from the game was the guys seemed to have more energy guys was actually flying around, was more locked in to their job. #5 is the best receiver on the team right now! Qb play was good all 3! I’m still not sold on the 4-2-5 because FSU still running the ball,” Maze posted to X.

Louisiana-Monroe rushed for 93 yards against Alabama, but a good portion of that came in the second half as the Tide shifted out defenders. The Warhawks had 43 yards of total offense in the first half.
