Alabama QB Ty Simpson tells why he feels the Tennessee defense is ‘not vulnerable’

Ty Simpson has a lot of respect for the Tennessee defense, and he explained why while talking to reporters on Tuesday.

Tennessee’s defense has been vulnerable against the pass this season, and the Crimson Tide are expected to have an advantage against them on the field when it comes to their wideouts against the Vols’ defensive backs. On the flip side of that, the Vols have been good at generating pressure on opposing quarterbacks. They currently lead the SEC in sacks as a team.

A reporter asked Simpson what he feels makes Tennessee’s defense vulnerable, and the Alabama quarterback responded by stating why he feels they are not vulnerable.

“I honestly don’t think they’re vulnerable at all, to be honest with you,” Simpson said. “They’re good up front. They’ll play man. They’re physical. They move around, and they are fast. I mean, it’s just like an SEC defense. They’re going to cause chaos. They’re gonna blitz, all types of stuff. So, we got to be on or P’s and Q’s and gotta be disciplined because they’re gonna bring every type of thing they got at us, and we just got to make sure that we make plays because they’re offense is going to make plays with tempo. They are, and we just need to understand it. That’s a good defense. I’m pretty sure they’re like No. 1 in sacks. So, we got to protect the ball, but I don’t think they’re vulnerable at all, to be honest with you.”

Simpson and his offense will look to test the Vols’ defense Saturday in a Top 25 matchup.
