Alabama LB Mack Wilson hints at returning for senior year

UPDATED: More posts in foreshadowing a return of Mack Wilson to Alabama for his senior year are in the making. The junior inside linebacker released this photo to social media on day after his first one on Tuesday.

It’s getting interesting.

Is one of Alabama’s defensive captains having second thoughts on the 2019 NFL Draft?

He promised himself that this was his year to win the Dick Butkus Award; however, linebacker Mack Wilson now has unfinished business after not being named a finalist. He could return to Tuscaloosa for his senior year.

He made it known on Tuesday via Twitter as he congratulated Devin White of Louisiana State University of earning the honor, but made his claim on next year being his moment.

The Montgomery (Ala.) native and former five-star took over at inside linebacker this season for the departed Shaun Dion Hamilton and found his voice as the signal-caller, during the middle portion of the year. He’s totaled 63 tackles through 13 games – including 4.5 stops for loss with one sack. Wilson also has five pass breakups and six quarterback pressures in helping a team record a top-10 total defense (295.4 ypg, ninth), scoring defense (14.8 ppg, fourth), third down efficiency defense (30.9 percent, eighth) and sacks (42, seventh).

He and the Crimson Tide did not have its best showing against Georgia in the Southeastern Conference title game; however, it made some crucial stops late in the matchup that allowed its offense a chance to steal the game. Even if he had decided to declare for the draft, Wilson would have probably been given a second-round grade.

He wants to show respective scouts he can consistently get his team into the right calls on the field and execute in different formations.

Alabama’s “Dirty 30” may be back in the fall and Tide would be excited for him.
