Javier Morton Scouting Report
Strengths: Long and wide frame, Can lay down the big hit, Can rough up wide receivers with size, Great ball judgment skills
Weaknesses: Plays with back to the quarterback at times, hips are not flexible, Does not react with great speed
Player Evaluation: Morton is a defensive back, who is most comfortable playing zone. He has great ball judgment skills and attacks the ball at its highest point. At 6-2 and 197 pounds, Morton has a wide frame and can rough up smaller wide receivers and snatch the ball from them in the air. His coverage needs to get better to play at the next level. He tends to face guard wide receivers at times. This comes from a lack of confidence in his speed. He focuses all his attention on not letting the wide receiver get away from him and never turns around to see the ball. He is most effective when everything is kept in front of him. He can come downhill and turn interceptions into points. He will most likely play safety at the next level.
