Adarius Redmond discusses Alabama football offer

Adarius Redmond is one of the top prospects in the 2023 recruiting class, and Alabama joined in on his recruitment in December.

Redmond is a product of Powell High School in Powell, Tennessee. He holds multiple Power 5 offers, including offers from Georgia, Penn State and Florida. The sophomore said his offer from Alabama caught him completely off guard.

“It was crazy,” Redmond told Touchdown Alabama. “I was asleep. My dad woke me up and handed me the phone, and they offered me. I was shocked.”

Offers begin to roll in for Redmond when he was a freshman. Tulane was the first program to offer him, and Kentucky was the first SEC school to put an offer on the table.

“It has been cool,” Redmond said. “I know it does not mean much now since I have a lot of time ahead of me, but it has lead to more exposure.”

Redmond has experience at playing on both sides of the ball. The Crimson Tide have expressed interest in him playing wide receiver after he put together a solid sophomore season at wideout. At 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds, he showed he possesses good strength and can catch the ball in traffic.

Alabama’s coaching staff told Redmond they liked multiple parts of his game.

“They said they like my speed, my size and my strength along with the way I come off the line,” Redmond said.

The Tide has produce some notable wide receivers under Nick Saban and have continued to recruit the position at a high level. Redmond has watched Alabama’s wide receivers in action on television a couple of times and said he is impressed with how they are used.

“They used them good,” Redmond said. “Every time I watch their highlights or their game, it is easy to tall they have nice wide receivers and their routes are nice.”

Tennessee Prime will have Redmond’s services on the 7V7 circuit this year. Redmond feels playing 7V7 with a young squad like Prime allows him and his teammates to get better.

“We are 18U now and, no one on our team is 18,” Redmond said. “It is going to help me get better, playing against older players. ”

Alabama has continued to offer new 2023 prospects, and they are expected to continue doing so. Redmond is projected to be one of the most highly-recruited players in the 2023 recruiting class, and his offer list should get much longer. The Tide looks to have done themselves a huge favor by offering him at this stage in his recruitment.
