Jah-Marien Latham Scouting Report
Strengths: Has experience playing both offense and defense, Can rush from the edge, Has the size to play inside and outside D-Line, Carries size well, Violent tackler
Weaknesses: Plays against less competition in high school, Jump off the line is not explosive, Defensive stance needs to improve
Evaluation: Latham carries his 280 pounds well at 6-3 and can rush from many positions, including from the edge. He has the potential to be an inside rusher as well but will need to add on some more weight to compete in trenches of SEC. Due to him playing 1A football in the state of Alabama, Latham has to play both offense and defense. This gives Latham a chance to work on his stamina and get into the mind of offensive lineman he will face at the next level. Unfortunately, this also means Latham rarely plays against Power 5 competition. Latham has good speed on the rush, but his jump off the line could use some work. He looks uncomfortable at times in a 3-point stance. He is violent upon contact and can use his size to punish ball carriers.
