The defensive secondary for Alabama football may not have as many growing pains as people thought.

Alabama's young cornerbacks have been praised by the coaching staff early in fall camp.

Zabien Brown, a five-star freshman, may continue the pipeline of success from Mater Dei High School to the University of Alabama.

Brown earned marquee remarks from Kane Wommack and Maurice Linguist last week, including Wommack referring to him as "very impressive."

Coach Linguist raved about Brown's technique , football intelligence, respect for the game, and how disciplined he is for details. Kalen DeBoer sees the same things in Brown as the Crimson Tide's head coach. He updated reporters Sunday after practice on a left hand injury for Brown.

The 6-foot, 190-pounder was spotted with a cast on his hand at practice.

DeBoer said it is nothing serious.

"He just slowed up here a couple of days, but he will be back fine," DeBoer said about Brown.

"Middle of next week for sure, but he is still out there practicing, getting his reps in."

DeBoer said Brown does not feel like a freshman, and he already trusts him on the field.

"We felt that way in the spring, and he's followed that up with another big jump," DeBoer said. "I don't look at this guy as young because he's fit right into the defense. I am proud of the way he approaches it. He does not take anything for granted. He works his tail off, he's up there with Coach Mo nonstop. He is just a fun guy to have around each and every day in the program."

Brown is going to be a marquee asset this season if he continues his development.
