Richard, I go back to the 70's as a student, and believe me, it's definitely a rivalry. I'll agree, with Tennessee not being competitive for the better part of a decade, it's lost some steam. But you bet your bottom dollar the moment they get remotely competitive, that's never a game any Bama fan wants to lose. Something about seeing that vile orange blowing cigar smoke makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up just thinking about it.Â
Mr. Gray
You're 100 % right. I myself live in Chattanooga TN. and for the first time in 3 yrs . Are Tide was pushed all the way threw the game. Finally seen and felt , why they call ths a rival. I was at Buffalo wild wings and had to sit threw this game surrounded by the most u educated, fail mouth ungodly no respet having nasty orange shirt wearing people. Sceaming and throwhng food . man u wouldve thought they have won the national title. until that great fumble in the enzone . man i had to run out of there before i was lenched. So u was right its special. roll tide Mr. Gray Roll tide....
I have been a Crimson Tide fan since I was 4 years old. This includes all but 7 of the Tide's championships. I have really enjoyed the premier success on my team. However, I have never thought that the Tennessee Orange Men have been consider a "Rival" of the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Crimson Tide have won, in my era championships as follows:
 1964, 1965, 1973, 1978, 1979, 1992, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2017
And, Tennessee has won Championships in that time frame to include:
None. However they have won 7 National Titles to include
Division titles | 6 (1997, 1998, 2001, 2003 2004, 2007) |
---|
Now, as you can see...not one single Championship Year won by Tenn. coincides with championship by the Tide.
Remember ...how many teams out there have zero National Championships under their belt. The best those teams can hope for is a Conference Championship Win.
Although Alabama fans only equate a good team as a national championship winning team it’s not the truth. We have become spoiled by our success.Â
Tennessee if competitive would be considered a rivalry game for sure I mean look at the celebrations afterwards how many random games have that none.Â
