Jahkeem Stewart put Alabama among the 15 schools he will consider moving forward in his recruitment in February.

Stewart is a product of St. Augustine High School in New Orleans, Louisiana. He garners a five-star rating from multiple recruiting sites and is in the running to be the nation's consensus No. 1 2026 prospect.

Alabama offered Stewart under Nick Saban. When the veteran coach retired, it gave Stewart something to think about.

"Alabama is going to be Alabama," Stewart told Touchdown Alabama. "When Nick Saban left,  it shook me up. I had a little second thinking, but I can't let one coach decide where I go."

Kalen DeBoer has had an opportunity to talk with Stewart, per the Louisiana product. Alabama is expected to still be in the running for the five-star with DeBoer's confidence in the program and his decision to retain Freddie Roach as the Crimson Tide's defensive line coach.

"He is a great coach, and he is confident in his scheme," Stewart said. "He is not letting all the pressure get to him. So those type of little things matter to me, and they kept coach Roach. That was a big part of my recruitment also."

Miami, Texas, Auburn, Oregon, LSU, Ohio State and USC were named as some of the other schools standing out to Stewart at the moment.

At 6-foot-6 and 280 pounds, Stewart finished his sophomore season with 20 sacks, 33 tackles for loss and 85 total tackles to go along with six forced fumbles.
