Kalen DeBoer spoke to reporters Sunday inside the Bill Battle Athletic Performance Center after practice.

Alabama finished its fourth session of fall camp, and its head coach likes the growth of this team.

Coach DeBoer highlighted one position group, in particular, that has been the most consistent at practice. After the defense struggled under Pete Golding and had some success in one year with Kevin Steele, Crimson Tide fans should be pleased that DeBoer named a defensive group.

He really liked how the defensive line performed.

Freddie Roach, Alabama's defensive line coach, is starting to bring the enthusiasm and passion out the unit.

Alabama’s defensive line had itself a day, according to HC Kalen DeBoer.

“Defensive line did a nice job today. Very active, did good against the run, and still put pressure on the quarterback.”

"The thing that jumps out to me was I thought the D-Line did a really nice job today," DeBoer said.

"I thought the defensive line did a nice job. Very active early on. We had a couple runs where there were some nice creases, credit the offensive line for that, but they quickly adjusted. The last three quarters, 80 percent of the practice, they did a nice job against the run and continued to do a nice job of putting pressure on the quarterback consistently."

DeBoer said Alabama's defensive line kept the Tide's quarterbacks moving.

"Those guys are around, and they are making the quarterback have to move around to make plays," he said.

"I like where they are at."

The Crimson Tide's defensive line is crucial this season, especially with a young secondary.

If Alabama can consistently frustrate opposing offenses with four linemen, the defensive backs will have many opportunities to create turnovers.
