Alabama football has more than two talented players in its running back room.

National media are quick to name Justice Haynes and Jam Miller -- both of which are good -- yet do not sleep on the five-star playmaker that came in the 2023 signing class with Haynes. Richard Young, a native Floridian, was a physical specimen and dynamic back in high school. The 5-foot-11, 200-pounder had a rushing touchdown in 2023 for Alabama, but he was able to remain redshirted. He had a good spring with Kalen DeBoer and is turning in a strong preseason camp through four sessions.

DeBoer said Sunday that Young has been one of more consistent players on the team.

"He is consistent, and that is a good word for him," DeBoer said. "He has taken that step from this spring running the offense, he is getting lined up, and doing his job at a high level. He's got an explosiveness to him, but he really played more physical as the spring went on. He has really picked up where he's left off. He continues to be steady and that's what I love about him."

Miller and Haynes will see the bulk of action, but Young is going to get his too.

He is too talented a player to sit and not be utilized. This is about to be a productive season for Young.
