Alabama’s 2016 recruiting class started slow, however, it has gained ground this summer.

Khalid Kareem, a four-star defensive end prospect by 247 sports, gave the Crimson Tide a verbal commitment Wednesday. The 6-foot-4, 260-pound Kareem is native of Farmington, Mich., who attends Harrison High School. He becomes Alabama’s 16th commit.

Alabama’s assistant coaches Bobby Williams and Tosh Lupoi landed Kareem for the Crimson Tide. He had over 40 offers prior to making his decision, but Kareem chose to go with Alabama over South Carolina, Michigan and Notre Dame. Kareem totaled 85 tackles and 18 sacks last season.
