Position: Inside Linebacker
Committed: 6/8/2015
Hometown: Chesapeake, VA
TDAL Star Rating: 4
Height: 6’1” Weight: 250 lbs.
Athletic Measurables:
Jaquan Yulee fits the ideal build of an inside linebacker in college. He is thick bodied, built like a tank and plays like one too. He is the type of player you want in the middle of your defense getting to the QB. If he can stay at 240-250 he will be successful, but if he puts on any more weight, it could negatively affect his game.
Instincts & Technique:
Yulee is definitely a guy you want on your defense. He has good speed and great size and plays with a real savage mentality, basically making him one of the last people you want to go head up with in the middle. He has the ability to be a destructive guy blitzing in the middle and if he can get down to 240, he may be a serious threat for the Tide. He has the speed and if he can get to that weight, his movement will become more fluid and agile.
Strengths & Weaknesses:
Strengths: Yulee is a very aggressive player, especially when he’s blitzing. He moves well and is very agile for a guy at inside linebacker.
Weaknesses: The only thing stopping Yulee from being successful is his frame. He has a great frame to come in and eventually make an impact for Alabama’s defense, but if he puts on any more weight it could really throw off the core of his game, which is his agility and athleticism.
Reminds Me Of:
Jaquan Yulee reminds me of Ryan Anderson in the sense that he plays with a very aggressive style and seems to always be around the ball. He could fit just as Anderson does in Kirby Smart’s defense.
