Alabama’s offense has much to prove this season, but its defense continues to bring in accolades. Edward Ashcoff, staff writer for ESPN, released his 2015 preseason All-SEC Team list Monday. Reggie Ragland, A’Shawn Robinson and JK Scott all made the cut.
Ragland could have declared for the 2015 NFL Draft after a solid performance last year, yet he decided to return to Alabama for his senior season. Ragland filled in admirably for the departing All-American linebacker C.J. Mosley, totaling 95 tackles with 10.5 for loss in 2014.
Robinson was an impact player late in the season for Alabama last year. The 6-foot-4, 312-pound junior defensive tackle recorded 49 stops with 6.5 tackles for loss. He also had a forced fumble, four quarterback hurries, three pass breakups and a blocked extra point in 14 games.
Scott took college football by storm as a freshman last season. He led the nation in punting, averaging 48.0 yards per boot. Opponents’ had to drive the length of the field 56.4 percent of the time, as 31 of Scott’s 55 punts dropped inside the 20-yard line.
