We have reached the halfway mark of the college football season. Wins are important, but impressive wins will be what swoons the playoff committee in the coming weeks.
Alabama defeated Arkansas 27-14 last week, and improved to 5-1 on the season. Regardless of securing its homecoming, the Crimson Tide’s 13-point victory was not enough to convince the pollsters. It dropped to No. 9 in this week’s Coaches’ Poll, after entering at No. 8 last week.
Three Southeastern Conference programs remain in the top 10, with LSU and Texas A&M respectively standing at No. 5 and No. 10. Only five SEC schools are in the top 25 itself.
