Coach Saban spoke to the media following Wednesday’s practice. Today was the Crimson Tide’s third day of preparation to face the Tennessee Volunteers in Bryant-Denny Stadium this Saturday the 24th.
Coach Saban on former RB Altee Tenpenny who passed away last night in a car accident:
“I just want to take a minute to express my deepest condolences to Altee Tenpenny and his family. Altee meant a lot to us on the team. I got a chance to speak to his mother today and expressed our dearest condolences on behalf of the university and program. ”
On the Tennessee rivalry: “In rivalry games like this I’m never satisfied with where we are at.”
Continued on UT rivalry: “Unless you are a part of the rivalry, then you really don’t know”
On Ryan Kelly’s concussion: “Ryan Kelly is making good progress and we will see how he responds throughout the week”
On LBs coach Tosh Lupoi: “He’s been a really positive addition to our staff. He’s got a lot of energy. He and Bo (Davis) work well together”
On freshman RB Bo Scarbrough:”He is getting better every week, his speed and burst is coming back. I think he is ready and can contribute and that contribution will be coming soon.”
On UT sophomore running back Jalen Hurd: “He is an outstanding athlete and very tenacious in the way he carries the ball”
On former Alabama RB and current UT RB Alvin Kamara: “It’s going to be a challenge tackling against the way he runs the ball”
On playing teams coming off BYE week: “I think the BYE week discrepancy is pretty meaningless”
