UA kicker dominates Iron Bowl

Shanna Lockwood- USA TODAY Sports

Misfortune on a 56-yard field goal doomed Alabama against Auburn in 2013; however, Alabama place kicker Adam Griffith achieved redemption Saturday. The junior made 14 of his last 17 kicks, after an 0-4 start. Griffith entered Jordan-Hare Stadium with one thing on his mind, erase all memories of “Kick Six” drama.

He got it done by scoring 15 of Alabama’s 29 points.

Poland’s native son emerged with five made field goals, with one coming from 50 yards. He was consistent from the hash marks and followed through successfully on all five attempts. Griffith outscored Auburn 9-0 in the second quarter and put the game away on a 47-yard attempt in the fourth quarter, giving the Crimson Tide a 22-13 lead. Griffith has connected on 19 of 26 kicks, netting a 73.1 percent mark. Alabama defeated Auburn 29-13 and will face Florida next week in a Southeastern Conference title game.
