St. Louis remains in the hunt for a playoff spot after securing a 21-14 win Sunday against Detroit at home. Rookie tailback Todd Gurley carried the offense with 140 yards and two scores. Safety Mark Barron captained the Rams on defense.
Barron, a fifth-year veteran, put in a team-high 11 tackles (eight solo). He recorded two tackles for loss and limited Lions’ running back Joique Bell to 50 yards rushing on seven carries.
Running back Ameer Abdullah mustered just 23 yards on seven attempts on a 3.3 average.
A former Alabama standout, Barron leads this group in total tackles (97) and has defended four passes with two forced fumbles. The Rams stand at 5-8, but a strong finished coupled with some key upsets could position it for a wildcard opportunity. St. Louis will face Tampa Bay next week.
