Could Alabama fans see a change with redshirt freshman quarterback Blake Barnett this spring? If uniform status is taken into account, then the answer is “Yes.”
The former five-star prospect and top-ranked pocket passer according to ESPN happens to be the frontrunner for Alabama’s starting quarterback job next season.
Barnett, a native of Corona, Calif., sported jersey No. 6 last season. He posted a photo Saturday to Twitter, announcing a change to wear No. 8.

Barnett wore No. 8 at Santiago High School, an institution where he posted a career- high 3,404 passing yards as a senior in 2015. He totaled 479 rushing yard and 30 touchdowns that year. Wide receiver Robert Foster may be the lone player to have an issue with this alteration, due to him donning No. 8 in the last three seasons (2013-15).
Hopefully, the two five-stars will work something out.
