Alabama now has its second hire from the East Coast in Mike Locksley, joining the likes of former Georgia defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt. Locksley, who served as Maryland’s interim head coach in 2015, becomes the fourth hire to Nick Saban’s staff.
Locksley held roles at running backs coach, run game coordinator, offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Terrapins.
He was brought on to the Crimson Tide to be an offensive analyst.
Locksley, 48, coached Maryland to an average of 24.8 points per game during four seasons (2012-15) as offensive coordinator. The Terrapins made two bowl appearances in 2013 and 2014, posting a 7-6 record in both years. Locksley spent time at Towson State, Navy Prep, Pacific, Army, Illinois, New Mexico and Florida, prior to landing an offensive coordinator position at Maryland in 2012.
