A 6’0″, 190 pound 8th grader certainly would be able to dominate his peers in Pop Warner football, right?
What if he dominated varsity level players?
I present to you Jesus Machado, an eighth grade player from Florida who recently received a verbal scholarship offer from Alabama (he has also received verbal offers from Michigan State, West Virginia, North Carolina State and Iowa State).
Despite only being in eighth grade, Machado has played varsity ball for Champagnat Catholic, located in Miami, Fla.
Upon graduating middle school, Machado will participate in the IMG Academy’s Florida/Georgia Future Stars Game.
It may be too early to predict how well Machado will play in the future, or if he will continue to grow physically, but in today’s game it is best to gain any recruiting advantage as early as possible.
