One. Two. Three. Exhale…
Alabama football dodges a bullet as the charges brought against Crimson Tide offensive tackle Cameron Robinson and safety Laurence “Hootie” Jones were all dropped on Monday.
Jones said, “I want to emphasize once again that the main reason I’m doing this is that I refuse to ruin the lives of two young men who have spent their adolescence and teenage years, working and sweating, while we were all in the air conditioning.”
Robinson and Jones were arrested back on May 17 for counts of drug possession (marijuana, narcotics), while Robinson was booked for a felony charge of being in possession of an illegal firearm.
The initial court hearings for both players was set for June 16, but no action took place. Robinson, who has never missed a game in two seasons, is projected to be a first-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. With all charges dropped, both players could be looking at possibly a one game suspension from coach Nick Saban.
