A small exodus continues for the University of Alabama football program, as redshirt freshman linebacker Adonis Thomas is the next one to leave. According to a report from AL.com’s Matt Zenitz, Thomas will attend a junior college this season and transfer to another school in January.
The 6-foot-2, 225-pounder was a four-star prospect from Central Gwinnett High School (Lawrenceville, Ga.) according to 247Sports Composite, prior to enrolling at Alabama.
Thomas redshirted his freshman year in 2015, spending much of his time on the scout team.
With the Tide returning Reuben Foster, Shaun Dion Hamilton, Keith Holcombe and Rashaan Evans at inside linebacker, Thomas would have seen little to no playing time on defense in the fall. Alabama also signed two five-star linebackers in its 2016 cycle with Ben Davis and Lyndell “Mack” Wilson.
Thomas becomes the third player to leave Alabama via transfer, joining defensive backs Shawn Burgess-Becker and Maurice Smith.
