Ex-Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy receives promotion from ESPN

A former Alabama signal-caller is moving up in the broadcast world.

Greg McElroy, who served as an in-studio analyst and travel analyst at SEC Network since 2014, has been promoted to the ABC/ESPN commentator team per Anna Negron of ESPN Media Zone.

The 2009 national champion and ex-NFL quarterback will join Dave Pasch and Tom Luginbill in the booth, while Allison Williams, Brock Huard and Bob Wischusen all will remain with the team.

McElroy will transition from a pre-game show analyst (SEC Now), to serving in a weekly role. He’s covered spring games, bowl games and two regular-season games during two years at SEC Network.
