After being missing from three days of practice, redshirt freshman cornerback Kendall Sheffield has decided to transfer from Alabama. According to ESPN writer Gerry Hamilton, the five-star recruit was granted a release from Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban to leave the program.
A source confirmed to Touchdown Alabama Magazine on Tuesday, in regards to Sheffield voluntarily leaving the school last week (Saturday night).
Sheffield, a native of Missouri City, Texas, was in the running to be used extensively in the team’s nickel and dime packages this season. His departure is the fourth from Alabama’s 2015 recruiting class, joining Daylon Charlot, Adonis Thomas and Christian Bell. Sheffield’s decision came on the heels of another transfer in defensive back Maurice Smith, who is now at Georgia.
