The former five-star prospect will finally see action this season. After serving a four-game suspension (NCAA violation), cornerback Tony Brown will suit up Saturday for Alabama’s homecoming game against Kentucky.
Coach Nick Saban made the decision Monday morning, following the team’s 48-0 win over Kent State.
“He’s eligible to play in this game. The suspension is over,” Saban said on Brown.
Brown was sent home for a violation of team rules, during the Crimson Tide’s game prep for Michigan State in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl (CFP semifinal) last season. The 6-foot, 196-pound junior totaled 26 combined tackles in 2014 and 2015, with much of his jaw-dropping hits coming on special teams. He took reps with the second team nickel and dime unit last week in practice, and looks ready to fully buy in to Saban’s process.
“He’s got to work in developing trust in his teammates and coaches,” Saban said.
“He’s been an outstanding special teams player for us.”
