The 6-foot-1, 203-pound cornerback tied a school record for interceptions (three) in Alabama’s 49-30 win last week over Arkansas. His 100-yard pick six broke a school record that was held by former Crimson Tide defender, Mark McMillion (98 yards, 1991). Fitzpatrick earned awards from the Tide’s coaching staff, the Southeastern Conference and Walter Camp Football Foundation, but now another one has arrived.
On Wednesday, the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame named the sophomore as its player of the week.
He added five tackles and two pass breakups, to pair with a trifecta of takeaways. Fitzpatrick currently leads the team in pass breakups (five) and interceptions, while standing third in tackles with 27.
He and the Tide will face Tennessee this week at Neyland Stadium.
