Larry’s Losers In The SEC – SEC Finals Edition

Well folks, it is over too soon, but not soon enough as the upset bug has had a huge infestation in college football this season causing us to have to have the lowest marks in our dozen years of doing Larry’s Losers. Let’s face it, this was not the best year for the SEC at all! Except for Alabama, nobody else stood too tall all season long and it’ll take a great bowl season for the league to regain a little luster.

As far as looking back, at the first of the year we picked Alabama to win the West, which they did, and Florida to finish second and they moved up one to first, so we were pretty close to seeing how things would shape out overall, but didn’t do well with the rest. I guess since this was the worst season ever to pick the SEC losers, it was only fitting that this last week was our all time worst week in the 12 year history of listing the losers. Our 4-5 record was just plain awful, but on the bright side, seeing Kentucky knock of powerhouse Louisville and seeing Vandy knock down the brick by brick wall in Tennessee was delightful.

So we ended the regular season with 84 wins and 27 loses which wind up at an all time low 76% prediction rating. While we still take solace in that being a higher number than anyone else in the media, it’s not good enough for us. The upset bug just chewed us all up one leg and down the other the whole season long.

But enough crying over the season’s spilled milk and let’s get on to listing the last loser of and SEC team vs and SEC team this season.

Alabama vs Florida – At 3pm in Hotlanta, the SEC puts the two division champions into the Georgia Dome to duke it out for the second biggest prize of the season these teams could earn.

Now McElwain’s mud puppies are a bit beat up, are a huge underdog and these Gainesville Gators aren’t given much a chance by anybody in the media, so according to how this season has gone, they got Alabama just where they want them. Why not rack up yet the biggest upset of the year and let the upset bug have it’s biggest bite?

But Saban’s pack of Pachyderms didn’t come this far to get garbaged by these Gators here at the end and even though this isn’t a game they have to win to get into the playoffs, it’s one they want to win to preserve a practically impossible perfect program this year.

And while this game may be closer than the 24 point difference that the boys in Lost Wages, Nevada thinks it will, there really no doubt that when this game is over, the only pain the Pachyderms will have will be picking the Gator teeth from their feet after the stomping. Larry’s Loser – Florida

Now with the regular season over, let me thank all the folks who sent me pictures to use in the Larry’s Loser article. I want to encourage everyone to please keep that up as finding funny and entertaining pictures are getting harder and harder to find. This week, since the list of losers is just one, we’ll just throw in some of the photos that were passed along.

 

I think this one actually is closer to reality than the most teams in the East would want to admit!
