A final push toward the NFL postseason is on the horizon for a few teams, as the month of December has arrived. One player that enters the last stanza of 2016 is New York Giants safety, Landon Collins.
The second-year player from Alabama has New York at 8-3, with a chance to possibly win the NFC East.
Prior to Sunday’s game against Pittsburgh, the league awarded Collins as the NFC’s Defensive Player of the Month. News came on Thursday from Randall Liu, who’s the NFL’s Director of Football Communications.

The 6-foot, 225-pound defensive back received the honor, following his performance in the month of November. He would total 30 tackles, three interceptions and a sack, aiding the Giants to wins against Philadelphia, Cincinnati, Chicago and Cleveland. Per Liu, Collins is the first safety in franchise history to win a Defensive Player of the Month award and the first safety to register at least 30 tackles, three interceptions and a sack in a calendar month since former Eagles’ safety Brian Dawkins (December, 2006).
