TUSCALOOSA, Ala.– Offensive standouts Cam Robinson and ArDarius Stewart will join coach Nick Saban at the Mal Moore Athletic Facility on Friday, to discuss plans for the upcoming NFL Draft. Redshirt sophomore cornerback Marlon Humphrey might accompany both juniors, barring last minute thoughts.
Wide receiver Robert Foster has done nothing to attract recognition from professional scouts; however, it remains a question on whether he returns to the University of Alabama next fall.
Foster, a redshirt junior, was an explosive target and five-star prospect in the 2013 recruiting cycle. Listed at 6-foot-2 and 191 pounds, he dominated Central Valley High School (Monaca, Pa.) with 107 career receptions for 1,860 yards and 26 touchdowns through three seasons. After two years of learning the offense and not getting an increased role this season, Foster is “considering” a transfer from the program. Per Duane Rankin of the Montgomery Advertiser, the four-year player said “It’s just a process that God’s got working for me now.”
“If it’s here, or if it’s elsewhere, I know that I’m going to be strong as a man to handle it,” Foster said.
He earned one of the starting spots at wide receiver in 2015, collecting 10 passes for 116 yards and two touchdowns. A torn rotator cuff in week three against Ole Miss set him back to square one.
Foster was thought to be a major factor coming into this season, but the acquisition of graduate transfer Gehrig Dieter (Bowling Green/SMU) altered the plan. He caught just five passes for 55 yards in 10 games.
The Crimson Tide returns Calvin Ridley, Cam Sims, Raheem Falkins, Trevon Diggs, Derek Kief and others to its roster next season. Signing big-named recruits like Jerry Jeudy will also make it tough on Foster to gain field access. While Rankin’s report states that Foster could make his announcement this month, Tide fans will urgently await his next move as the offseason arrives.
