Bo Davis is back among the coaching ranks of college football.
On Wednesday, the defensive line guru was hired to University of Texas-San Antonio as the Roadrunners latest assistant. Founded in 2011, UTSA will enter its seventh year as a program next fall and second under head coach Frank Wilson—who guided the team to its first-ever bowl game in 2016.
UTSA become Davis’ first coaching gig, since a recruiting violation forced him to resign from the University of Alabama in April of 2016. The Crimson Tide amassed 191 sacks during his two stints (2007-10, 2014-15), including 84.5 sacks coming from defensive linemen (44.2 percent). He was on staff for two Southeastern Conference championships and two national championships in 2009 and 2015.
Davis tutored the likes of Brandon Deaderick, Wallace Gilberry, Lorenzo Washington, Terrence Cody, Jesse Williams, Marcell Dareus, Quinton Dial, Damion Square, A’Shawn Robinson, Jarran Reed, Ed Stinson, D.J. Pettway and Jeoffrey Pagan into being star players and future standouts of the National Football League.
