I believe I can fly: Hurts will soar even higher in 2017

After watching the A-Day game live on ESPN, lets just say that first-year offensive coordinator, Brian Daboll can run this offense.

The SEC Offense Player and Freshman of the Year in Jalen Hurts put up numbers last season that no one expected as a true freshman, and led his team to the college football playoff national championship game.

Late in the season last year, the freshman quarterback was beginning to get criticized for his accuracy and deep balls which made Crimson Tide fans unhappy.

This year, Saban is making sure those errors are corrected before the season rolls around with his second-year quarterback who’s been playing phenomenal.

Hurts was 16 for 25, 301 yards and two touchdowns with an interception in the spring game which are pretty solid numbers if you ask me. He had completions of 37, 50, 60 and 65 on deep passes.

Playing against the first team defense, Hurts showed a lot of confidence sitting inside the pocket and keeping his eyes downfield looking for his target. Even though he’s mobile and has wheels, Saban has to be satisfied with his quarterback planting his feet correctly and not forcing the ball into tight windows when he can’t find an open receiver.

The Crimson Tide offense is going to be very scary if the players continue this type of superb play on the field at practice.

Hurts is showing supreme confidence and has total charge of the huddle which is a positive sign.

Crimson Tide receivers Calvin Ridley and Robert Foster had more than 100 receiving yards on the day in the spring game. Foster had 2 catches for 115 yards and a touchdown while Ridley finished with 4 catches for 102 yards and a score. Although Ridley is an automatic start as the number one receiver, Foster could find himself in the starting lineup opposite Ridley after showcasing his athletic ability.

I expect Hurts to pass for over 3,000 yards this year. He has way too much talent around him that can constantly be consistent, make plays and gain yardage.

Watch out Florida State. Alabama is like a train. This team starts slow, but once they get going, its going to be a long day for opponents playing them.
