Hoover, Ala.– Alabama senior punter JK Scott was one of 29 individuals named to the 2017 preseason Ray Guy Award watch list on Wednesday, according to the Augusta Sports Council.
Scott, a native of Denver, Colo., averaged 47.2 yards a punt on 64 attempts. He dropped 25 balls inside the opponents 20-yard line, while having 29 punts travel in excess of 50 yards.
Along with finishing second nationally in 60-plus yard punts (seven), the 6-foot-6 specimen had 27 of his 64 punts – 42.2 percent – to not be returned in helping the Crimson Tide achieve its third consecutive Southeastern Conference championship during the 2016 season.
After not winning the award as a freshman (2014) and being left off the semifinalist list in 2016, Scott intends on bringing home the Ray Guy Award during the upcoming fall.
