TUSCALOOSA, Ala.– As the University of Alabama football team puts in more of its game plan for Florida State this week, head coach Nick Saban took the podium inside the Mal Moore facility for his first presser of the 2017 regular season this afternoon.
While Tuscaloosa News was first to break the report concerning gunshot incident over the weekend that involved sophomore defensive lineman Raekwon Davis, Saban said the impending starter for this week’s matchup is listed as “day-to-day.” The shooting occurred at Bar 17, which is located 3217 10th St., in Tuscaloosa.
Davis was viewing the Mayweather-McGregor fight.
“Still gathering information on Raekwon Davis,” Saban said. “He was out late. That doesn’t make me happy, but it is what it is. Nothing good ever happens after midnight.”
Davis, who stands at 6-foot-7 and 306 pounds, spent the summer with strength and conditioning coach Scott Cochran – working on becoming more physical and fine-tuning his technique as a pass rusher.
He finished last season with one tackle for loss and sack against Mississippi State; the other Southeastern Conference school that wanted his services. Hailing from Meridian, Miss., the four-star recruit is listed a projected starter at defensive end, opposite Da’Shawn Hand.
