After missing the latter end of last year’s season with an injury to his knee, it appears Alabama’s starting middle linebacker, Shaun Dion Hamilton, has re-aggravated the knee again. After a tackle early in the third quarter, Hamilton remained seated on the turf grasping his knee as trainers attended to him. The CBS broadcast cameras panned over to his reaction as he was assisted off the field and he appeared to be in tears.
Here is a Twitter video of the play and reaction:

On the season, Hamilton has 37 total tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble. More importantly, however, he has been a key cog of an Alabama defense that lost superstar ‘backer, Reuben Foster, to April’s NFL Draft. The second-ranked Crimson Tide already have a depleted linebacker corps with injuries to Christian Miller and Terrell Lewis. Additionally, Rashaan Evans and Jamey Mosley have also taken some damage throughout the year.
It is worth monitoring who moves over into his role, and who receives more playing time. Best of wishes, Shaun.
