Never doubt the third quarterback in a conversation.
This is what Florida native Mac Jones wanted to show Alabama fans, coaches and teammates and in the first half of the Crimson Tide’s spring game he was able to do that.
While head coach Nick Saban was very displeased with Jalen Hurts – according to a tweet from Barrett Sallee of Bleacher Report – he was complimentary of Jones, saying “the third-team quarterback can move the team down the field throwing the ball.” Despite an interception in the second quarter, Jones completed 12 of 21 pass attempts for 179 yards and a touchdown.
Here’s Saban talking about his QBs with what appears to be a hot mic.

His 65-yard strike to Chadarius Townsend was the first score of the game.
Jones engineered two scoring drives and has Crimson leading, 14-6 at halftime. Regardless of coming in the 2017 signing class with Tua Tagovailoa, the four-star is showing that he is not just a third wheel.
