Kenyan Drake has always been an emotional player on the field. Last season in the season finale against Buffalo, Drake was ejected for tossing a Bills players helmet while defending ex teammate Jarvis Landry. Monday at Dolphins practice there were 4 reported altercations among players. Training camp fights are common and to be expected. Guys have been in the heat competing hard and tempers flare.
However, After a play in practice where Kenyan Drake ran the ball, he and teammate defensive tackle Gabe Wright were involved in a war of words. As Drake turned his back, Wright punched the former Tide star in the back. Hours after practice was over Wright was released. That wasn’t a smart move for Wright as he wasn’t a lock to make the team anyway.
Its clear that Dolphins head coach Adam Gase is sending a message that trying to purposely hurt a teammate will not be tolerated. Drake is expected to co-start with veteran Frank Gore at running back this season for Miami.
