Dale Zanine USA Today Sports

For the third season in a row, the Alabama Crimson Tide tops the preseason AP Top 25. Alabama received 42 first-place votes to be ranked number one while Clemson received 18 first-place votes. Georgia, Wisconsin and Ohio State round out the rest of the top five teams in the AP Poll.

This is the third consecutive year that Alabama is ranked number one in the preseason AP poll. In 2014 and 2015 Alabama was ranked number and number three meaning that in the past five preseasons Alabama has been ranked in the top five which shows the dominance of the Alabama football team. In addition to being ranked number one in the AP Preseason Poll, Alabama is also ranked number one in the preseason Coaches’ Poll. Despite losing many talented players to graduation and the NFL Alabama is expected to have another dominant year.

While the biggest question for Alabama still remains who will be the starting quarterback, Nick Saban has the team in good shape and will continue to build and develop the team to prepare for the first game against Louisville. With all the outside noise from Louisville players and coach Bobby Petrino Nick Saban is focusing on being the number one team in the country and showing Louisville that the team is professional and not all talk.
