No redshirt is in play for Jalen Hurts.

The junior quarterback played in his fifth game for the University of Alabama on Saturday against Louisiana at Bryant-Denny Stadium. He entered the game in the second quarter to loud screams from the crowd and tossed his fifth scoring pass of the season to Henry Ruggs III.

Aside from Hurts’ latest move, the Crimson Tide has looked strong versus the Ragin’ Cajuns as it takes a 49-0 lead into the locker room. Tua Tagovailoa completed all eight of his passes for 128 yards with two touchdowns, while Hurts hit on three of four attempts for 109 yards.

Ruggs leads all receivers with 107 yards and two scores on four catches.

It’s his first 100-yard performance of his career and behind him, Jerry Jeudy has 58 yards receiving and Jaylen Waddle has 44 yards with a touchdown. Josh Jacobs has carried the hot hand for Alabama in the ground game, posting 49 yards rushing with a pair of scores.

Defensively, the Tide has fared much better against the run.

With the exception of a couple missed tackles, linebackers Mack Wilson and Dylan Moses rendered Louisiana to just 74 yards offensively and 49 yards rushing. The duo combined for eight tackles – including 1.5 stops for loss. Redshirt junior safeDeionte Thompson also put in four tackles and the duo of Trevon Diggs and Christian Miller had three tackles apiece.

Diggs recorded his first career interception before halftime.
