The Manning Award is awarded to the best quarterback in college football every season. The award was introduced in 2004 in honor of Archie Manning and his sons, Peyton and Eli.
Tagovailoa has shown that he is one of, if not, the best quarterback in college football up to this point. He has compiled an impressive statline that currently stands at 1,760 passing yards with 21 touchdowns and zero interceptions. He has a 71 percent completion rating.
Heisman winner and the No. 1 pick in the 2018 NFL draft, Baker Mayfield, won the award last year. No Alabama quarterback has ever won the award since it was introduced, which means Tua could be the first quarterback in Alabama history to hold the award. Some other notable quarterbacks that have won it are Matt Leinart, Matt Ryan, Cam Newton and Tim Tebow.
