JJ Evans was shocked by Alabama’s offer

JJ Evans

2020 4-Star wide receiver, JJ Evans, received an offer from Alabama on Saturday.

Touchdown Alabama reported he was a guy to look out for in October. When Alabama offered Evans an invite to a game, he knew had to go to one as soon as he got a chance.

“I never went to an Alabama game on an invitation,” Evans said. “So I decided I needed to go to that one.”

Evans got a chance to experience many of the sights and sounds of an Alabama Saturday and it was a special turn of events that lead him to realize he received an offer from Alabama.

“After I registered, Coach Gattis call me over and said he wanted me to meet some of the staff,” Evans said. “I meet some of the staff and he instructed me to go into the locker room and sit on the couch. I went and soon as I walked in, I saw coach Saban and he told me  “come and take a seat man and nice to finally meet you”, He shooked my hand and was telling me he watch my film and he was impressed. He told me I had an opportunity to play there because the receivers they have now will probably be in the draft by the time I come and they wanted to offer me.”

Evan was shocked that the Tide offered him, but offers are nothing new to Evans. He racked up 8 in October alone. He started October with 0 offers. His offer numbers now stand at 12 and teams are clamoring for his services and it is easy to tell why.

The 6-feet-2-inches 185 pounder racked up 57 receptions, 1410 receiving yards, and 17 touchdowns through nine games this past season. His breakaway speed combined with his frame makes him a weapon.

Alabama has one commit from an in-state wide receiver in Dazalin Worsham for the 2020 recruiting class. They hope their fortunes are the same with Evans as they will look to add a couple wideouts in 2020 to fill the gap that Jerry Jeudy, DeVonta Smith, and Henry Ruggs will leave once they decide to leave the program.
