In every stop he has made as an athlete and a man, Mark Barron left a positive impact.
He was an All-American safety at University of Alabama and is one of the more recognizable outside linebackers in the National Football League; however, he is regarded for much more in his hometown of Prichard, Ala.
Coming from the Mobile area, the once five-star prospect from Saint Paul’s Episcopal High School has always wanted to be a consistent force in helping his community. His former teammate at Alabama, Chris Rogers, saw the same thing in Barron, which is why the Florida native and 2009 BCS national champion added him to his team.
With Together Assisting People or TAP being the vehicle, Barron is having his third annual turkey giveaway today from 3-5 p.m. inside the Figures Community Center in Mobile and Prichard City Hall in Prichard. After providing Thanksgiving meals for those in need last year, Barron and his mother were presented with a key to the city.
As he continues to make plays on the field, the two-time national champion will be remembered more for what he has done back home.
