None of the injuries Alabama suffered in its win over Citadel were too serious.
As it prepares for its annual matchup with Auburn University in the Iron Bowl, Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban took the podium in starting the conversation on what he anticipates from the Tigers and updating the media on those injuries.
The duo of Deonte Brown (turf toe) and Deionte Thompson (knee) “will practice” today, according to Saban. Brown hurt his toe in the Tide’s 24-0 victory at Bryant-Denny Stadium two week ago versus Mississippi State, while Thompson got a bruised knee against Citadel.
As for Alex Leatherwood, the sophomore offensive lineman twisted his ankle last week and will be held out of practice.
“He’s better, but we’ll expect him to practice very soon this week,” Saban said of Leatherwood.
Running back Damien Harris got a mild concussion in the second half, when he hit the back of his head on the field after being tackled. The senior from Kentucky would jog off the field moments later, to the joy of Tide fans, but he will be held out of practice as well.
Saban said Harris has made “great progress,” yet he wants to make sure he is cleared for contact.
With his longest run going for 73 yards, the former five-star finished the contest with a team-high 83 yards rushing on seven carries versus the Bulldogs.
